White Teeth Aren't So Healthy As You Think

White Teeth Aren't So Healthy As You Think

When you see someone with white teeth, you might think, 'How healthy they have', but the situation is not at all what you expect.

People living in the USA apply to dentists mostly for the purpose of whitening their teeth. The people we see in the magazines and watch in the cinema appear before us with teeth like pearls. For this reason, we think that white teeth are more attractive and healthy among people. So is it really like that? So these people have healthy teeth?

First of all, apart from our genes and age, the color of our teeth is determined by cigarettes, food and beverages, and the drugs we use. As we age, our teeth turn yellow as the enamel wears off.

In a study, cow teeth were soaked in tea, red wine or white wine for an hour, and it was observed that red wine left the most stains. Tea alone did not leave any stains, but it was observed that the tea consumed after drinking white wine left a stain. The reason for this was that the tea was drunk after the acid in the wine made the tooth enamel more porous.

This color change does not mean that the teeth are unhealthy, as the foods consumed affect the color of the teeth. Even if your teeth look white and pearly, you may have gum disease or cavities. However, when your teeth are completely healthy, they can be yellow or even brownish.

So, what should those who want to whiten their teeth for aesthetic purposes rather than health reasons?

There are many toothpastes, patches, and gels on the market that have been produced for this purpose. Many of these contain abrasive or bleaching agents that stain stains. Others give the tooth a bluish appearance against yellowing and make it appear whiter from the outside.

The whiteners used by dentists are more effective than the substances applied at home. But whether the treatment is effective or not depends entirely on the individual. Some people may experience temporary sensitivity in their teeth or gums after this procedure.
